Adaptogens in your Skincare and Psychedelics in your Water!
Fungi Fridays - January 27th, 2023 - Issue #66
Hey Fungi Friday fam,
Would you believe it if I told you that in terms of Friday’s, we’re essentially already 1/12 done with 2023? Crazy when you put it like that, huh? That means that we’re only about one month away from putting in the first spawn purchase of the year and getting ready to ramp up 2023 production. I’ve said time and time again, I think this year will be a big step forward for us over here at Iowa Fungi — and when it is, you know I’ll be here taking you along for the ride!
As for me, i’m back in the midwest, finally through with the crazy travel month of January (well, almost — actually flying out to Vegas for work on Sunday). Seriously am getting amped, ready to grow these mushrooms. It’s truly going to be a make or break year, and I’m feeling up for the challenge. As we enjoy these last few months of calmness before the chaos ensues though, let’s jump on over to the stories of the week.
Mushrooms Are Going To Be Unavoidable In 2023 Skincare
Throughout the entirety of this publication we’ve always seemed to find more and more use cases for mushrooms. We’ve covered mushrooms in health food stores and have touted them as alternative medicines. We’ve talked about their historical use by ancient healers, including Hippocrates himself. Covered their health benefits such as their ability to improve mental clarity and focus (lion's mane), boost immunities (reishi) and provide energy (cordyceps). It should be no surprise, then, that medicinal mushroom, also known as adaptogens, are now making their way into the world of skincare.
Today, mushroom-based skincare products are practically everywhere, especially since the pandemic forced nearly everyone to assess their own health and well-being over the past three years. Below are three mushrooms that may be able to assist in your skincare needs. Read on!
Reishi and irritation - Reishi mushrooms are known for their soothing properties. When ingested, they provide a calming effect that can be similar to melatonin for aiding in sleep. When applied to the skin, this soothing effect takes the form of easing redness, irritation, and inflammation.
Tremella and hydration - Tremella mushrooms are the MVP when it comes to hydration. These shrooms contain a natural supply of hyaluronic acid in addition to natural oils that work as a deep conditioning treatment for skin. If you suffer from chronically dry skin or acne-prone skin that responds to harsh and drying acne treatments by over-producing sebum and oil, tremella is your mushroom.
Lion's Mane and antioxidants - Lion's mane has also been found to promote faster healing of skin wounds. If you suffer from issues like chronic skin picking or acne or just want to prevent damage to your skin before it's too late, lion's mane is the mushroom you're looking for.
Psychedelic Water Brings The Benefits Of Psychedelics & Nootropics To The Mainstream
Here’s an interesting one for feature number two of the week… looking to dip your toes into the waters of PSYCHEDELICS? How about doing it with PSYCHEDELIC WATER?
Whether micro-dosed or mega-dosed, psychedelics have an abundance of benefits that humans have been taking advantage of for generations. Although substances like psilocybin mushrooms are not legal in the United States, brands like Psychedelic Water are introducing seasoned users and beginners to the benefits of psychedelics, plant-based ingredients, and nootropics.
Their flagship Psychedelic Water beverage and the Functional Microdose beverage are helping individuals raise their vibration and see the world in a better light. Sounds interesting, right? Well click the link above to read on for more information about Psychedelic Water and their popular beverages.
Why 2023 Could be a Pivotal Year for Psychedelic-Assisted Treatment
After years of regulatory hurdles and societal stigma, psychedelic-assisted treatment for behavioral health conditions is coming into the spotlight.
The growing popularity of psychedelics is due, in part, to promising research results and multiple states relaxing regulations. Now, 2023 could be a banner year for the treatment. Psychedelic legalization goes into effect in the first state in the nation, all while approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could be in the works.
As the snowball continues to pick up steam down the hill, 2023 is poised to pick up where 2022 left off… with increased momentum on the regulatory front, especially at the state level — as well as more attention and additional funding at the research level. Both of these front’s are going to prove pivotal in bringing these substances to market in a safe and reliable way. We don’t get multiple attempts to sway public opinion, so let’s do this right the first time!
