Iowa Fungi’s Update of the Week
Another check-in week at the trailer. We’ve officially pulled the plug on crop number one (as I indicated we might last week), so it’s on to focusing on number two and number three. So far, number two is looking decent, and number three is looking pretty promising. That being said, the humidity is still not perfect, so it’s still a work in progress. Hoping both crops will. be ready for fruiting next week, but we’ll have to wait until then to see.
Health benefits of mushroom: A superfood which manages blood sugar, boosts mood, reduces depression
Forget kale chips, mushrooms are the new superfood taking the health world by storm! This article spills the tea on how these funky fellas can be your one-stop shop for feeling fantastic.
First up, say goodbye to blood sugar rollercoasters. Mushrooms are naturally low in sugar and carbs, making them the perfect pick for keeping your blood sugar levels chill. Think of them as tiny bouncers for your glucose levels, keeping things smooth and steady.
But mushrooms aren't just about physical health, they're mood boosters too! Studies suggest they can help fight off depression and anxiety. Imagine munching on a little slice of sunshine for your brain!
And here's the kicker: mushrooms are loaded with B vitamins, which are essential for keeping those happy chemicals flowing and your brain functioning at its best. B vitamins? More like BYE BYE blues vitamins!
So ditch the boring veggies next time you're grocery shopping. Mushrooms are the delicious and nutritious upgrade your diet craves. They're tasty, versatile, and good for your mind and body – what more could you ask for? Mushrooms: officially the funkiest superfood around!

Fashion, meet your sustainable soulmate (it has spores)! This article dishes on the latest in eco-friendly threads – fungus fabric! Forget flimsy plastic vegan leathers, this innovative material is made from mushrooms, yes, mushrooms!
Imagine swapping your worn-out pleather jacket for a super cool, mushroom-made bomber that's kinder to the planet. Sounds pretty fly, right? Well, here's the catch: while this fungus fashion is having a major moment, it might not be ready to take over your wardrobe just yet.
The problem? Scaling up production. Right now, growing enough fungus fabric to clothe the world is a bit tricky. It's like trying to make enough clothes for a whole party using just your grandma's knitting needles – it takes time and resources.
But don't despair, eco-conscious fashionistas! Even though mass production might not be there yet, this research is a promising step towards a more sustainable future for fashion. Scientists are working hard to overcome the scaling challenges, and who knows, maybe one day your whole wardrobe will be sprouted from a fungus farm! In the meantime, keep an eye out for those limited-edition mushroom-fiber threads – they might just be the future of fashion.

Most Americans Who Have Tried Marijuana Or Psychedelics Had ‘Positive’ Experiences, Survey Finds
Majority of Americans Trip Out Over Positive Experiences with Weed and Shrooms, Poll Says! This political survey throws shade on the idea that marijuana and psychedelics are all bad vibes. Turns out, most folks who've tried them actually had positive experiences.
That's right, a whopping majority of Americans who've experimented with weed say it was a good time, with over 40% saying it was very positive. Psychedelics like shrooms also got a thumbs up from those who've indulged, with many reporting positive experiences.
This is a big deal for pot legalization efforts, with over 60% of Americans on board with making weed legal. And those who've actually used it are even more likely to support legalization. It seems like personal experience might be changing some minds on this issue.
Now, the picture isn't all sunshine and rainbows. The survey shows less love for other psychedelics like LSD, with opinions more divided. But overall, it seems like Americans are becoming more chill about these substances, especially when they've had positive experiences themselves.
So next time you hear someone freaking out about weed or shrooms, share this survey with them! Maybe a little personal experience (or a good poll) can change their minds.
